- For a worker’s compensation insurance client, we built a scoring system to identify which claims were likely to be high-cost at intake. The system provided the client three significant capabilities: the ability to identify claims that could be processed untouched by human hands; the ability to identify the most costly claims; and the ability to identify potential fraudulent claims.

The system has provided this client a processing cost savings on 20% of incoming claims. These are self-limiting claims, processed by machine. Over time, the client has used the system as a primary tool to assign claims by risk level. A byproduct of the system is its ability to identify potential fraud, creating a huge savings. AR&D literally has changed the way this client does business – by concurrently reducing costs and increasing control.

We devised a rigorous financial evaluation and forecasting process as a prime contractor for the DOD-TriCare Management Activity. This process yielded a highest to lowest rank order of the competitors with respect to their financial stability and viability, and it identified each competitor’s strengths and weaknesses. The procurement Contracting Officers used this rank order as part of their decision criteria for awarding six regional, multi-billion dollar Managed Care Support contracts over a seven year period.

As part of developing a sub-prime auto client’s risk management infrastructure, we trained the client’s risk management personnel in the statistical methodology of building behavior scoring systems. As a result of the training process, we were able to assist this client in building, validating and implementing three behavior scoring systems to queue early-stage delinquent accounts so that the worst accounts were worked first, the next worst were worked second, and so forth.
